2013 Open Registration is Live

Open 2012 @ CrossFit Praha

“Registration is now live. Whether you are the Fittest on Earth or it’s your first time competing in CrossFit, welcome to the 2013 Reebok CrossFit Games Open!

The Open will put competitors through five workouts over five weeks, starting March 6 and ending April 7.

The first workout will be released at 5 p.m. Pacific Time on Wednesday, March 6. To be in the running for Regional or Masters Competition, you must register, complete the first workout, and submit your score by 5 p.m. Pacific Time on Sunday, March 10.”

“Protože v CrossFit Praha uznáváme nad rámec sportovních hodnot také hodnoty etické, veřejně musíme bojkotovat e-shop Cross Athlete http://www.crossathlete.cz/ a informační blog Crossfit News http://www.crossfitnews.cz/ . Důvodem je pro nás osoba Filipa Vávry, který za těmito aktivitami stojí. Filip Vávra se v minulosti aktivně a programově podílel na propagaci hnutí hlásicího se k nacismu a rasismu. Mimo jiné byl zakladatelem hnutí Národní odpor a proslavil se pozváním někdejšího vůdce Ku-klux-klanu Davida Duka do Česka. Pro lepší představu a informovanost o názorech a aktivitách Filipa Vávry a jako podporu důvodů našeho bojkotu uvádíme výběr internetových zdrojů:

The reason for this boycott is Filip Vavra, who stands behind these activities. Filip Vavra has been a very active participant in promoting the Neo-Nazi movement and racism. Among other things, he was the founder of the National Resistance Movement (Národní odpor), which is renowned for bringing the former leader of the Ku Klux Klan, David Duke, to the Czech Republic. For a better understanding and awareness about the views and activities of Filip Vavra, and the reasons behind the boycott, here is a selection of internet resources:

“Many of our daily jobs involve sitting down for an extended amount of time, whether we work at a desk all day, or sit around at night watching TV. As one would imagine, this isn’t good for our bodies and can lead to postural decline and deterioration in the range of motion of a joint. Not good things for anyone, much less an athlete who is apt to attempt performing at their best.
Mobility is defined as, “The ease with which a joint or series of joints is able to move before being restricted by the surrounding structures.”

As you should be able to deduce, as our lives become more sedentary, we get tighter. As a functional human, we have three rights: Train heavy, bang often, and go forage for our food. If you can’t squat, you can’t carry your kill home, nor your wife (or husband, though if you can, he needs to eat) to the bedroom, which would complete the second right, “bang often”.”
